Isle of Wight Conference

Published by skambalu under networking

Also thanks to Joe Dale, who let me know about the Isle of Wight Conference, 25 and 26 October. Unfortunately I won’t be able to go, but perhaps others will be able to make it! (Hopefully I’ll have some time to follow what is going on there on the web … we’ll see! Would like a little time to breath and a few minutes to mark at the moment!!)

Wordle on Channel 4

Published by skambalu under personal

I’ve been wanting to post something for ages, but it’s still far too hectic around here! So just a short observation … did anyone else see the Wordle used as a backdrop by Channel 4 News for their reporting on the Bradford and Bingley banking bailout? Definitely looked like a Wordle … would like to know if anyone else noticed it!

Secondly … my school email is being a bit annoying at the moment … I can’t open my emails! Will keep on trying.

Is it in the syllabus?

Published by skambalu under RE

I’ve heard it before, and I’m sure I’ll hear it again … but I received this today from a friend, and it made me smile, so I thought I’d share it with you!

Then Jesus took his disciples up on the mountain and gathered them around Him. And then He taught them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,

Blessed are the meek,

Blessed are the merciful,

Blessed are you who thirst for justice,

Blessed are you who are persecuted,

Blessed are the peacemakers.”

And Simon Peter said, “Do we have to write this stuff down?”

And Philip said, “Will this be on the test?”

And Andrew said, “John the Baptist’s disciples don’t have to learn this stuff.”

And Matthew said, “Huh?”

And Judas said, “When am I ever going to use this in real life?”

Then one of the Pharisees, an expert in law said, “I don’t see any of this in the syllabus. Do you have a lesson plan? Is there an activity for each of the seven intelligences? Where is the study guide? Will there be any authentic assessment? Will remediation and extra credit be provided for those who did not meet class requirements so they can still pass? Will this be on the test?”

And Thomas, who had missed the sermon, came to Jesus privately and said, “Did we do anything important today?”

Back to School

Published by skambalu under Uncategorized

It’s certainly been a busy three weeks! I’m still too exhausted to be coherent. But I wanted to write a short post to let you know that I hope to be back to my usual busy posting self soon. In the meantime, I was at our local SACRE last night, and the key initiative both there and at school is Community Cohesion. I’m sure there will be more to say about that as the term goes on. In the meantime, what are you doing to support Community Cohesion at your school?
