Mediator

Published by skambalu at 1:18 pm under Mediator, Year 10, revision

Wow! I had my Mediator training last night, and to be honest, I didn’t sign up for it the first time, but I’m glad I did, because it’s great! I was up until after midnight last night trying to produce some nifty pictures that when you hover over them other images and text appear. Was looking forward to showing my class this morning as the starter and plenary.

Unfortunately, the disk I made last night did not automatically run when I put it in the DVD drive! What did I do wrong? Judy, any pointers? And should it also work on a Mac? Because it didn’t work on my husband’s last night …

Looking forward to getting these glitches ironed out, because I can see lots of potential for Mediator!

Glad to see U back! Couldn’t go to mediator. Got the software but not used it as yet.

Are you going to take part in second life?

I reckon that we need to meet and sort this out. It will only be a minor problem but I need to see the project. Looking forward to seeing the results. Please phone to arrange a visit time…….

I have investigated further today, and I can open the folder and click on the “start” button, and it works – I’m sure I couldn’t do this yesterday, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place! However, it still doesn’t run automatically …

I showed a few year 10s (the target audience!) the work that I have done so far, and they were suitably impressed and thought that it would be helpful. So now all I need to do is finish it!

Lloyd, I think Facebook and all my blogs are enough for me just now! Don’t think I could handle Second Life as well! (Not entirely sure what it is, either …) Are you “taking part” in it?

OK, it looks like I could have been wrong with my reservations about Mediator, so I will watch this space with interest!

    Hi,
I am a friend of Janet and we did the Mediator project at the Institute of Education together. I would be really interested having a look at the work you are doing with Mediator if that would be possible. Can send you a copy of what we managed to do with Mediator (not brilliant admittedly) if you want.

Jo, Janet was telling me a bit about your project today – I’d love to see it! I showed Janet what I have done so far, which consists of hovering over photos to reveal hidden text and images and using the drag and drop facility. I’m sure there’s more that can be done, but I’m very excited with it so far! I hope to add a bit more first, then will arrange to send a copy to Janet so you can have a look. Have you started a blog?

Have my own personal website but haven’t started a blog. Can burn you a CD version of our project if you like and send it to you. That is the only way I have worked out how to transfer all of the data from my computer. Would love to see a copy of your work.

Very strange. Jo sent the following comment, which I have replied to (partly) in a post today. But now I can’t find the comment anywhere! I have therefore copied it from the copy sent to my email account. Very strange.

    Susan,
Had a look at your mediator work this afternoon with Janet, loved the Year 8 stuff – have a few questions, how did you get all that film stuff in it, I tried with mine and it just wouldn’t accept it – too big!, how did you get it to recognise typing (how much would it recognise?) and how do you put a quit button in it – no one told me you had to, realised only after I had burnt a CD for presentation and couldn’t get out of programme (where do you link it to?). How do you export stuff from open mind? So many questions, sorry. Am curious because like you said ours is very different.
