Training today
I’ve particularly enjoyed using Comic Life and Photo Booth this evening … but am concerned that I can’t get any sound on crazy talk. All my plans for a talking Jeremy Bentham are going astray!
It’s been fun getting the Mac and getting to fiddle around with a variety of applications. I suppose soon I’ll need to sit down and work out exactly what I want to do as my research. I have three groups in particular that I’m thinking of. For my AS class, I think I will try to create some iMovies for revision purposes. Could be embarrassing though! Ethics is not my strongest area of subject knowledge. Secondly, my Year 7 class has major issues with behaviour … anything that might help to grab their attention away from each other and onto the subject would be great. Finally, my Year 10s … I want to support their exam technique, perhaps using the Digiboards. (Is that what they’re called?)
My other issue is that I can’t connnect to the internet at the moment! I hope I can fix that sooner rather than later … very frustrating to have to swap between two computers all the time eg when using Flickr. Hope I’m not frustrated for too long.

Sue, I think the Crazy Talk probelm is to do with the sound card. Click on Start(bottom left corner), choose control panel, choose sound, then click on the hardware tab and choose one of the other options, possibly a different sound card setting and the retry Crazy Talk. Chris J says that Crazy Talk seems to default to a different soundcard. I am going to investigate this as I haven’t experienced it at home and if necessary I will contact the company as this is very annoying. If you noticed it happened to me yesterday at the training session. Please post your talking head on Google Video and then attach it to your blog for everyone to see. IF you need help with this then email me. I am interested in seeing your Yr 7 scheme to see if there are any projects that we could help you with – you could borrow 2/3 cameras and get the kids to do some work in school and then bring them to the CLC for the day to produce their own films. This is entirely possible in a day as it’s a project we already deliver to primary schools.
That sounds really exciting! The next unit is about Leadership in the Church, and before I read your comment, earlier today, I was thinking that perhaps I could have some talking head disciples, and then I thought that the pupils could plan interviews with disciples then film them or something … Let’s plan this a bit more!
I have sound!!!!! Thanks – I changed the sound as you outlined above and that woman is talking to me! Now for Jeremy Bentham!!! Watch this space.
Sue if you could take some film of various churches that you might want to use then you could film the students filming in front of a green screen (chroma screen) and later put the moving images behind the pupils. This creates the effect that the students are out and about but with no Health and safety problems. Just a thought…..
